Facial balancing in Malvern.

I'm Hayleigh, a registered nurse. Facial balancing is what I call prescription treatment for the lips, cheeks, chin and jawline. You tell me what you'd like changed. My part is checking whether it's suitable for you, and I say no when what someone's asking for won't fix what's bothering them.

What facial balancing is

Some people come in because their lips have thinned or lost their shape. Cheek volume can change gradually over time too, and so can the chin's profile and the definition of the jawline. Others have something they've always wanted to change. Facial balancing covers all of those.

What balanced means is up to you. I don't decide what your face should look like, and you can describe what you want in your own words. My job is checking your medical history and whether treatment is suitable for you.

Booking a consultation doesn't mean you've decided to change anything. You can ask your questions and find out whether there's a suitable option. Sometimes the answer is that what you've noticed is within the normal range and nothing needs doing.

Suitability is assessed individually during your consultation. Outcomes vary between individuals.

Hayleigh, registered nurse

Every consultation and every treatment at Sculpt by Nurses is with me, and I don't have sales targets.

I did four years in emergency nursing before any of this. That's where I trained in clinical assessment and facial anatomy, and where I learned to manage the full range of responses, including the ones that aren't routine.

Four days a week I work in dermatology, and I'm doing postgraduate dermatology study on top of that.

I take your medical history and check suitability before any treatment is discussed. You don't have to decide anything on the day.

Lips, cheeks, chin and jawline

Each area affects how the others look, so I check the one you've raised alongside the rest of your face before I tell you whether treatment is suitable.

  • Lips

This covers lip volume, shape, symmetry and definition. Some people have noticed their lip definition change gradually. Others want an asymmetry evened out, or have questions they'd like answered first.

  • Cheeks

Cheek volume in the mid-face changes naturally over time, and that can change how the features around it look, so I look at them together.

  • Chin

The proportion of your chin affects your profile and the proportions of the rest of your face. I look at it against your own facial structure.

  • Jawline

Jawline definition can change with age. If you've noticed that, the consultation is where you find out what's changed and whether treatment is suitable for you.

Suitability assessed in consultation - results vary.

What to expect at your first visit

  1. The consultation

It takes about 30 minutes and it's one-on-one with me, in person or by video. You tell me what you've noticed and what you'd like changed. I take your medical history, including medications and anything you've had done before, and check whether treatment is suitable for you.

There's no obligation to go ahead, and the consultation is free either way. Sometimes the outcome is advice and no treatment.

  2. Your options and the price

I only talk about treatment when there's an option that's suitable for you. When there is, I explain it in detail, including the risks, the limitations, the alternatives and the option of no treatment. You get the price before you decide anything.

These are prescription medicines, so a prescribing doctor is involved, as Australian regulations require. That's arranged through the clinic.

  3. If you go ahead

I give you clear aftercare guidance. Swelling or mild bruising can happen and usually settles within several days. Recovery varies between people.

Risks & considerations

Facial balancing is a clinical procedure that uses prescription medicines, and every clinical procedure carries some risk. I go through the risks with you in your consultation, as they apply to you.

What you may experience

Mild swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising at treatment sites is common and typically settles within several days. Some people experience asymmetry during the swelling phase that resolves as the area settles.

Possible but uncommon

Some people may experience more prolonged swelling, palpable lumps or visible irregularities. These are typically managed with conservative care or follow-up review. In rare cases, more serious complications can occur. I go through these with you in detail before any treatment.

Not always appropriate

Facial balancing is not suitable for everyone. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, certain medical conditions, current infections in the area or specific medications may mean treatment isn't recommended. Suitability is assessed individually during your consultation, and in some cases the appropriate outcome is no treatment.

All facial balancing treatments at Sculpt by Nurses involve prescription medicines and require prescribing oversight. A consultation is required before any treatment.

Before you book

What do you mean by facial balancing?

It's the name I use for prescription treatment of the lips, cheeks, chin and jawline. People book it when their lips have thinned or lost their shape, or when part of their face has flattened over time. What gets changed is your decision, and I check that it's suitable for you. Every consultation and treatment at Sculpt by Nurses in Malvern is with me, Hayleigh, a registered nurse.

Will I look overdone?

How much changes is your call. We agree on it before anything is done. I'd rather do less and see you again than do more on the day. I can't promise how anything will look on you and nobody should.

Can I book just for my lips?

Yes. Lips are a common reason people book, and you don't need to be interested in any other area.

Is there any downtime?

Some. Swelling or mild bruising can happen and usually settles within several days. Many people go back to their usual activities shortly after, but recovery varies, so I tell you what to expect for the area being treated.

How much does a consultation cost?

Nothing. The consultation is free and takes about 30 minutes, in person or by video, with no deposit. Prices for prescription treatments can't be published, so you get the price in your consultation, before you decide anything.
